Leadership and Management
Ideal Public Administrator
Derrick Johnson is a textbook case study of the ideal public administrator because he is a leader who thinks well, acts strategically, and is an ally for equality. Johnson has long proved he could align multiple stakeholders around a common cause as NAACP president and CEO, and he has championed diversity and collaboration. He can design creative solutions that address immediate and long-term impacts because his problem-solving style takes account of the policy, social, and institutional challenges. Johnson's leadership style commands respect and leads to action on big government because of integrity, perseverance, and a solid conscience. Derrick Johnson is a role model for public administrators committed to being socially just, collaborative, and results-driven in their communities. He made me work even harder as an administrator and leader in my organization.
